Protip: rent a dedicated server, not VPS. Due to shared CPU and mostly shared connection, VPS' suck for quality game servers. But, if you insist: minimum ram = 300MB per server instance. If you're planning on running 1 server, get a VPS with 512MB ram. A dual-core + would be nice. Although quad-core works smoother. I HIGHLY recommend a Windows OS over Linux for game servers. It's easier to setup the server and maintain. It also runs IW4M natively. Something around $20/month + relatively low user-base on the node ought to work. If you can't afford a dedicated server, I recommend you look for dedicated game servers companies. They host high-quality servers for about the same price as a VPS. They are also easier to setup, as it's pretty much web-access only.

RCON works fine from anywhere as long as you set the "rcon_password"

Also, If you're interested in renting one from me. I can offer a US or EU location. 1GB connection, both quad-cores, only a few other servers on there.

allsimple.net, they're great.

Check out their specials, http://www.allsimple.net//specialoffers the one with 512mb's of ram should do it, and is even kinda cheap.

Their servers are hosted in the UK, it's linux though.

If you want to know how a server runs on one of their vpsses, connect to s1.weloveaiw.com:28960 on 4d1 (it's mine, an isnipe server)

VPS = Virtual private server. Basically you and an a set of other people use a high-performance computer. (Usually 12-24core, 32-64GB Ram). While it has it's positives, there's a lot of drawbacks to VPS: Shared CPU, HD, Network (slower performance and other customers could cheat you out of your share of performance). Dedicated server on the other hand are machines that only you use. 100% of CPU/RAM/HD/Network is 'dedicated' to you. Only drawbacks are price. You're looking that $60-100/month, but you can run 5-10 servers on one machine.

Well, i would take http://www.server4you.com/ they're fucking cheap & awesome.

Btw, the location would be Germany then if i can remember.. But i am not sure if there are American servers available aswell.

They do have us servers, but I do not recommend them at all. I tried ordering from them and after a few misflagged fraud issues, 2 weeks, and slow response time, I found out they had no servers in stock. When their website clearly showed they were in stock and could be setup in 24 hours. If you're going dedicated, which I doubt, for eu look at Http://kimsufi.com. I believe they also have vps'.
