It DOES work.

Make sure that you remove whatever might show up when you open the console (\, / or ~, deppending on the keyboard layout)

Then type the correct ip:game port

example:

connect 192.168.1.1:27015

can test it?

There's no connectable server at that IP:port (just tested)
