When i start my server with a mod, it loads fine, no errors.

Then when a client (me) joins the game and gets to the stage where it needs to download the mod from the server, it crashes the game, the console says something like: Need file: filename +directory or something then it just has a dump file. :/

Use +set fs_game "mods/modname", as I'm sure you're doing, but put the mod and server.cfg in the m2demo folder. This way the mod will still load, but it won't try to download to the client.
