You wont be VACbanned if you hack on iw4m. But you will get banned if you cheat anyways, so I dont understand why you're asking....

If you cheat in IW4M, you will get banned. There is a functioning AC better than VAC, and even if it doesn't get you, chances are reports will get you manually banned. So don't. Obvious yet reluctant cheater is obvious.

VAC isn't a bad system in general, but for MW2, they've given up. Cheats haven't been added to the detected list in months. For Source and GoldSRC games, it's a different matter.
