Yep, that's what you need to do.

 

I got these files in the torrent download: aIW-DLC1.7z, aIW-DLC2.7z and DLC-System.7z - all these to go in zone/dlc??

 

I didn't get any iwd files on this download but I have iw_00.iwd - iw_23.iwd all in main (after downloading missing iw_23.iwd from mediafire)

 

I also downloaded mp_compact.ff earlier - this to go in zone/dlc right?

Do you have WinRar / 7zip ? As you need to extract the files you got from the torrent the you will get some folder and the files.

No I have neither of those. Which one is best? After I download this, will I have to download anything more? Feel like I've spent the whole day downloading stuff to try and make this work! Am I on the final stretch?

I have downloaded WinRar and extracted all those files as instructed but when I go in to the game am still getting a black screen and the error message about preview_mp_compact and might be missing iw_22.iwd/iw_23.iwd !!!

 

I really don't know what I'm doing wrong or why this is so complicated. Is there anything else I need to do? I'll try restarting the computer.

 

If the Call of duty 4 demo is working fine on my computer, shouldn't MW2 work too??

YES i did the directx updates already, aswell downloaded the latest driver for my video card, but it still gives me the error. So is there any way to get it fixed?

Okay, i just randomly tried today again and it worked, i plaed one match and then tried to change screen resolution and the game crashed. So i restared the computer and now it wont run again. Gives me still the directx error on the start.
