Anyone else have this problem or know the cure? One minute the ping is fine and then it can jump as high as 999. This happens a quite a lot and makes game fairly unplayable.

Well if it's jumping to 999 then obviously you're losing packets. Open console ingame and type in: /drawlagometer 1 and then when your ping jumps up to 999 again make a screenshot.

 

You can try this command aswell: /cl_packetdup 2 or 3 whatever fits you best. If I can take a look at the screenshot with the lagometer then I'm maybe able to solve the problem.
