This is what I want to purchase. All I want is a build that can edit/render/record HD video quickly and pretty much flawlessly, and play games like FC3/BF3 on max (if not just medium or High) at least at a steady 60 FPS.

So,

1. Am I paying way too much for what I want?

2. Is there something I'm missing/do I not have the correct parts?

3. What should I change? (if anything)

I'm assuming you're going to overclock the i5 3570k.

-A proper PSU, unless you want to spend $1100 on fireworks.

-A better motherboard, the Z77A-G45 or Z77A-GD55 for example, since motherboards without VRM cooling are NOT for overclocking.

-Add an SSD (Crucial M4, Samsung 830, Samsung 840 Pro or Intel SSDs).

-Drop the Blu-ray drive, unless you actually need it, there's no reason to buy it.

-RAM with heatsinks that are not bigger than the first generation Xbox.

-An aftermarket heatsink.

-A cheaper GTX 670, for example, this one.

-A case with proper cable management, bottom mounted PSU, proper airflow, preferably with dustfilters and preferably with the inside and back painted (just because it looks nice).

or you could go with an AMD build which is much cheaper(fx 8xxx series or an APU with a gfx card crossfired will give you similar if not better performance)

Going in order of the parts:

 

NZXT Phantom: Horrible airflow, looks badass, has very low temps if you load it up with fans. Wouldn't get it unless you plan on using 230mm fans/a 140mm based water cooling solution (case in point is the NZXT Kraken). Try an Antec Nine Hundred instead.

 

MSI Z77A-G45: Should be fine

 

MSI GTX670: Fine choice, 660ti performs almost the same albeit with a smaller bus is you're looking to save a little

 

SeaSonic M12II 620: SeaSonic is nice, but 620w might end up being a little short if you want to upgrade your GPU in the future. I'd suggest getting a 750w Corsair or Antec unit, both companies are great.

 

i5 3570k: Great gaming CPU. Hard to beat in terms of flat-out gaming performance. If you plan on editing/compressing things a lot, however, a 3770k is probably a better idea.

 

Intel SSD: 60GB is a little short. At that capacity, you're basically paying $80 to boot your OS and 1 game faster than usual. Go for 120GB or just leave it.

 

G.Skill 1600MHz DDR3: Solid RAM. Good choice.

 

WD Caviar Black 1TB HDD: Yep, nothing wrong with it.

 

Optical Drive: lalalla idgaf

 

Cooler: Hyper 212 is great value, but if you plan on going to 4.8GHz or higher, you might want to go up the range a little.
