Hey guys, so I am new here.. I am pretty sure I did everything right installing, ports, moving the stand alone client into the folder and updating.

 

But when I get to the main menu it gives me "disk read error". Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Thanks Paulofonta, I tried running it as admin, didn't help.. Just my luck. (I have newest framework a long time ago.)

Running hldsut as admin shouldn't be a requirement. You just have to be careful while adding the startup arguments.

Great news man, I fixed it! I guess I was wrong about being up to date with framework, I ran windows update and there was tons of stuff, so I got them all, and it still didn't work. So now, I just reinstalled and it didn't crash. I just have to test out online now.

That error has nothing to do with frameworks or windows updates.

That error is caused by damaged game files (wich get corrected by running hldsut)

Okay okay.. Well I figured out, it corrupts the game for me, when I change settings in the multiplayer config. Which doesn't make much sense to me, how this one is any different than the older ones. That I change just fine.
