My priorities are :

1)Gaming

2)Overclockability

 

I have settled with a Radeon HD 2GB 7850 as my GPU

the games i will mostly be playing

BF3 , COD BO2, IW5M, IW4M, FIFA 13, DOTA 2, Metro 2033(just a little) and Need for Speed

I have heard that the same processor performs differently in different games like a hexacore performs better in BF3(like phenom II X6) than a core i3

 

I want this combination such that i can be assured that my PC wont becom outdated for atleast a 4 years

Dosent matter with the cores since it does not have any advantage in gaming since games are not made to run on more than 4 cores(except BF3)

I am looking at Intel i5 or the FX 6xxx series (or maybe the FX 8350)

buy xeon with 12 cores is good for gaming or

buy a quad core with 4 cores and its good for gaming

Well not yet but in the near future they will. And the FX8350 is a decent procesor with a low pricetag.
