Downloaded the installer, ran it straight away, selected a folder... wouldn't let me install.

 

Tried a folder on the desktop, wouldn't work either...

 

Tried running in administrator, still wouldn't work..

 

Tried running in compatibility mode for XP SP2, continues to not work.

 

Basically, it keeps telling me to find a valid install path for MW2, and I don't see the problem.

Perhaps it checks for some specific file to confirm the correct path; which in your case isnt there.

 

From where did you get the base installation? In my case I used my earlier alteriw mw2.

I have no previous installation of AlterIW, I just restored my computer a week ago :S

 

What can I do?

Do you posses the original game files? The installer does not install the entire game, you need to select your pre installation of modern warfare 2 before you can use the auto installer that 4d1 provides.

I don't currently. I'll get them later on, see if I can get it to work then.

 

Can you run the game without IW4M client?
