Actually, that just hides it/puts it on the bottom of the screen so that you can't really see it. Doesn't disable it.

If I'm not mistaken it'll change the maximum amount of lines shown at once to 0, doing the same as disabling it.

or use cg_chattime 0

it disable it and when u want to use it again u can just use cg_chattime 12000
