Just popped in my head,

I've got MW2 retail, but not on steam... Will I be able to play with that version of the game?

Learn how to link MW2 with steam... :geek:

My friend linked it to his steam alrdy, so i was wondering if i could play it just retail (w/o steam)

if your friend activated it on his steam acct then you will need to link to that account to play when it is released.

Since technically, you do not have a licensed copy of the game, your friend does, you just have the disk

I thought MW2 required activation on Steam.

Indeed it does. Though, as far as I know, you should be able to make it work with retail somehow.

Well yeah, if you have retail, during the installation process, I would assume you have to start Steam and activate it. I haven't bought a physical copy of a game in years, so I don't know much about retail copies. Everything I've bought since Battlefield 2142 has been Steam, EA Downloader/Origin, Direct2Drive or Greenman Gaming.
