Hey guys,

I have been thinking of an idea that might help us out significantly (or not)

Not sure if this has been thrown out there before but what if we had a topic on the forums that gave people a general layout for how to create "ERRORZ, HELPZ ME PLOX" topics

I would suggest that we make a thread on the forums somewhere entitled "please read if you are having problems before making a topic"

Yes, it's a bit long but you get the idea

then in that topic we could have something like this:

------

Before posting a topic about your problem, please read the following topics:

If you still don't have any luck, please try searching for your error here:

If you can't find a solution to your problem, please make a new topic with a topic title related to your issue and fill in the relevant information:

Error code/message:

Computer Specs:

Any Info you may find useful to us:

.dmp files (if they're useful to us):

What you're trying to do when the error happens:

------

Not entirely sure if it's a good idea, I can already think of several flaws like people not reading, not caring or just doing it wrong

but then there's the whole "each problem is different" issue where not all fields may be useful or helpful to us

I don't know, might be useful, might be trash

What do you guys think?

This actually looks like a good idea, but, as always, there will be those idiots who skip all of that and dont read it, when their problem is a common problem with a fix, in which i will just delete or move their thread to trash.

If you want to do this, you will need to be strict and hand out warnings to anyone who doesn't follow the rules. Sadly, with the amount of topics being made, we would need about double the amount of staff. But, long term, that will help the section. It would just need some more thinking through.

Maybe if we have a sub-board for support questions and related stuff

Then we could have more staff just for that board (and us as well) if we needed it

then that board could have its own rules and then people that don't post there or post incorrectly get warned

I don't have a problem with warning people, already warned one person :P

It would take a lot of effort with the few of us here at the moment, but maybe in the near future we could do it

not only that, but I guess it would help dev as issues are reported and anything that's not been solved or can't be then and there and be easily viewable by NTA and the likes

Can we not make some kind of form that people have to fill out as a support ticket system but the tickets are publicly viewable and people can comment on them?

(I'm thinking along the lines of bukkitdev)
