IW4M crashing on startup - r104

since about 1PM my game is just crashing on startup, even tried older revisions of the iw4m.dll (102, 94).

the problem seems to be the libnp.dll or parts of the friend-system as the console is giving me this as the last message before it crashes:

any suggestions (other then changing the libnp.dll and never use the updater again)?
