When I start up MW2 I get an ingame message saying:

 

Fetching playlists complete.

Updating Ranks and Unlocks...

Connecting to IWNet complete.

 

It wont stop Updating Ranks and Unlocks and I've waited 40 mins and I can't exit out of the error.

 

Any type of help would be appreciated.

I had a similar issue, I just Ctrl+Alt+Del to go back to desktop and closed the console, then restarting 4D1 and it worked.

Thank you, it worked! I closed the game multiple times but not the console.

 

P.S I just came from Alterrev and 4D1 has way better support and a better client.

you can just write in console /quit
