You cant afaik. You need to

1. Exit Steam

2. Go Offline

3. Make a new steam account that doesnt have MW2 purchased

4. Add it as a non steam game.

As I know Steam does not provide this feature.

 

If you own the game on Steam it says you're running the original MW2 when you start 4D1.

Yeah we all know that, that's your point? OP asked if there is a way to hide this status, and I told him that Steam do not have such option.

 

Ohh, I though you didn't know that. Also he can use 4D1 as a non-steam game.
