Questions About Hip Replacement

Опубликовано:

Hi everyone, this is a little off topic and just want to ask for confirmation.

My grandma is suffering hip pain for quite some time now, she consulted an orthopedic about this pain she’s been experiencing and asked for proper medication. Her doctor told her that her hip needs a replacement due to severe osteoarthritis and I want to ask if there’s anyone here experienced/tried this kind of surgery. I’ve read an article from Wright Hip Lawsuit, and it states that this surgery could possibly cause a life threatening side effects to patients due to “metallosis” metal poisoning.

Any ideas, advice and suggestions are greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance,

Richard Banks

Funny you should ask. My girlfriend had hip replacement surgery just about a month ago. At first, the pain (at least in her case), was severe for the first several days (as you would expect with artificial/non-organic implants). But after a month now, she is almost completely recovered. Your grandmother, like my girlfriend, will require PT, but that should be the most of your worries. Metal poisoning should be of little concern. The fatality rate from hip replacement surgery is equatable to the chances of you being struck by lightning. Twice. While standing in the same place. :) Hip replacement is the most common surgical procedure in the United States, if that helps add to your comfort level. :)

I know my advice may be a bit sketchy, but DAMNIT Jim, I'm a moderator, not a doctor ;) Best of luck to your grandmother!

I think you're on the wrong forum, this forum is full of trolls and 12 year old children. So you shouldn't really expect more than 2 or 3 serious replies, the best is to search for a forum that's aimed at medical stuff or consulting a doctor.
