Dabigatran etexilate is contained in Pradaxa (as dabigatran etexilate mesilate). After taking this drug, it is immediately converted in the body to dabigatran as its active form. This inhibits a certain protein in the blood, which is called thrombin. This thrombin helps in the formation of blood clots. What dabigatran does is that it stops the formation of blood clots.

 

However, the problem arises when the blood doesn’t clots. This will now result to excessive bleeding if ever you will get injured or get wounded internally/externally. There is still no proven way to counter this effect and you may even bleed to death with just a small cut. Since, there is no warning printed on the label or packaging of this drug, more users are being prone to this side-effect. This is evidenced by the hundreds of Pradaxa lawsuits received by Pradaxa’s manufacturer.
