I haven't found servers in my region that run SP Maps yet, so how do I run them for example in a private match?

Download the files and paste them in your "mods" folder after making a folder for each. Then, when your are in-game, you can click the "mods" and run the desired map as a mod.

you could always just make a folder called "mods" in your mw2 directory

So I created a modfolder, put a "pripyat"-folder inside and the so_ghillies.ff in. When I run the "mod", nothing happens. When I enter map so_ghillies into the console the map starts loading but after that the game crashes.

Then the problem is with your game. Try re installing DirectX, if that doesn't work, change to bordered mode. If even that doesn't work, you will need a reinstall.

Try setting textures to lowest/automatic?

The so_ghillies fastfile is supposed to be in zone/english and not in your mods folder. The mod itself should be a iwd file.
