The dedicated servers use 4 ports instead of the regular 1 port in earlier games.

From what ive looked at it, it seems like there is also a name confusion with the ports.

This is how it seems to be:

Startup arguments(only the ports):

+set net_port 27016 +set net_queryPort 27015 +set net_authPort 27017 +set net_masterServerPort 27014

But when the console prints out the "Initializing Steam Game Server", this is what shows:

Initializing Steam Game Server: game port 27015, auth port 27017, query port 27014

So if you want B3 on your server, the net_masterServerPort seems to be the port B3 should be connecting to.

This is for people that are as confused as i was. ._.

I'm sure there will eventually be a dedicated server guide, but...

You can just use +set net_port 27014 (Or whatever port you want) and IW5M will automatically use the other ports based on the net port. In the case of 27014, the query port is 27017. Just look in the console to get that port. That's what you put as the port in your b3.xml.

For example:

iw5m_server.exe +set dedicated 2 +set net_port 27014 +set sv_maprotation "default" +set sv_maxclients 18 +start_map_rotate

It appears I am incorrect. I just set up my second server, using the +net_port command only, with a different net port from my first server, and it tried using the same ports at the other server, so I guess you DO have to specify each one in the command line unless you're running one server.

I have seen no reason to set the master server port just yet unless it's required for B3

If you're not using B3, just setting query and net ports is enough to get multiple server going

Some hosters want to customize all their open ports and arrange them(us included), but it might be worth mentioning that net_masterServerPort is used for b3 in the b3 tutorial.

But i created this topic due to the confusion between "query port"(aka net_masterServerPort) and net_queryPort, as they are not the same which many would think.
