Choosing the right computer?

Опубликовано:

I'm thinking of making a switch to a desktop computer, mainly 'cause of the fact that I run MW3 with everything low besides specular mapping (love the gold, XD) and I feel that it's really embarrassing, having a laptop that can't run something IWnet and Activision built, on High settings.

I know that Desktops are favored for gaming and most of the parts that are interchangeable are easier to find and are DIY friendly. But laptops are portable, and that reason speaks for itself. My laptop is just plain old now-- compared to what everyone else has-- and kind of dirty.

Should I change to a desktop? If so, what brand? Or should I keep using a laptop but buy a new one?

Definitely change to a desktop. If you have the time, buying your own parts and building yourself is the best (and cheapest) way to go; you can get a good machine for around $500-600 if you know your shit. There's tutorials all over the net for it.

Yes, but don't throw away your laptop, it could be useful when you're not home.

Build it yourself, it is like lego.

You should keep your current laptop and build a new desktop.

Thanks. I doubt that I'll build a machine that can run Battlefield 3 on Max FPS on High, but, eh, 'tis worth a shot.

Did I mention that my laptop's battery reader-thing-a-ma-bob is a piece of shit now? XD I have to keep it plugged in at all times, thus not making it an on-the-go thingy. A friend says it's the motherboard that's causing the problem. Ah, whatever.

It could still be useful to be able to use it at your friends house.

So say me, what's your budget? I could put together the parts for you ;)

Or for watching Videos or movies while playing ;)

one tip for your laptop:

Install a linux-distribution on it (ubuntu for example) it's faster, safer and easier!

If you don't play games, there is no reason for using Windows ;)

Just make a desktop and buy the parts and build. Cheap and easy just look for turtorial around the web on how to install Videocard, RAM, etc. Hope you get a good build that makes you play MW3 on max settings!

Or install Mac OS X, if your computer is Intel-based.

lolno

OS X is a terrible OS. He's better off using Mint or Ubuntu.

I mean, it's an option. Gaming wise it's not good optimized. But I dualboot it on my PC, never use it though.
