My brother and I have both set up IW5M, but can't connect to each other via "connect 192.168.xxx.xxx". Is there a specific reason for this, does it simply not work right now, and will it maybe in the future? I'd love to do some stupid stuff in a private match with some more than just the original maps.

It will most probably be fixed in later revisions as its an important part of the game. You can go around in the maps by your own though.

Or join an empty server until its fixed?

Hm, well, the serverlist has been pretty buggy for me ... always just showing a random 2-3 servers, and always different ones. I connected to an empty one and after 1 minute I got kicked with "Steam connect failed".

 

I'll just wait another week or so, and see how it's going then.
