Use cg_fovscale (figure out the number, it goes up to 2 afaik). And no you won't be banned.

Unless you have an eyefinity triple monitor setup, there's pretty much zero real reason to go over 90 FoV.

But feel free to bump it up to 180, so everything is all weird looking and we get free kills on you.

cg_fovscale 0.02 through 2.
