There was a similar issue with aMW3 a while back, I happen to remember that IW_01.iwd holds that .cfg file for both games... Trace a new IW_01.IWD file and it SHOULD (no promises here) fix your problem

1) delete players/config_m2.cfg

2) try again

3) if it doesn't work, post your m2demo/console_mp.log so we can debug further.

4) Delete iw_01.iwd

5) Recheck files/cache for MW2 from steam.

then i found a topic of ToolBox which is .iwd Repository, i downloaded all the iwd files to fix that error and put them in : call of duty 2/main/ now i can't play when i start the game i got this in the game console Couldn't load fileSysCheck.cfg. i tried what you guys said here in this topic but nothing works.

Delete everything, get a Skidrow version of the game from Pirates at the bay, and then install iw4m by 4D1.

Umm, guys... I just realised something... fileSysCheck.cfg is in iw_00, not iw_01 :/

okay i'm reinstalling the game,in the main folder i have "iwd_00" and "iwd_22" are different from the one in your ".iwd Repository", i will replace them with yours also i don't have "iwd_23" i will put it too.

i'm gonna reply if this works.

it doesn't download it but when i put the alter folder from the alteriw i got this new error : "Failed init after: Fatal error (0xc0000005) at 0x10023545."

Questions :

1.do i have to put FixPermissions.exe the one from the old alteriw in the zone folder ?

2. where do i have to put dlc1_ui_mp.ff and dlc2_ui_mp.ff ?

btw whitout the alter folder i can play in afghan... and the dlc maps but not the 7 new maps it crashes.
