Okay, so Ive done my research and found out that gtx 480 gets really hot, uses a shit ton of power, and whatever.

But the 7870 on the other hand uses a lot less power and is much, much cooler. But also has slightly less performance.

I want to run games on pretty high settings, I don't need them maxed out at all. I have a 1600x900 monitor.

Comparison: http://www.hwcompare.com/12210/geforce- ... n-hd-7870/

I'm debating what I should do.. I mean I can always overclock the 7870 if I wanted.

Ugh, decisions, decisions.

PSU I would buy: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817182076

GPU I would buy: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814161404

That website is terrible and you should look at actual benchmarks instead.

Why would you even want a 480? They're incredibly inefficient (475W on Furmark), get extremely hot (91C on Furmark), they're barely available, the 7870 performs better/just as good as the 480 in some benchmarks and are incredibly noisy. Unless you're going to cook with your computer, go with the 7870.

And Rosewill PSUs are shit, I don't even understand why you're considering buying that PSU with a GTX 480.

Get yourself a GTX560 or above, compare different clocks and prices, a 550W PSU is enought.

The 7870 can be overclocked over a gtx 580.

I want a 7870 and a 500w psu, that's my plan.

Don't buy a bad PSU.

I learned that the somewhat hard way, it didn't fry any of my parts thank god, but my '750w psu' decided to make my screen go black then my PC would restart, every few mins, when usage went up or something similar..

You know that over-clocking a card its at your own risk ?

That's why you should always make sure your PSU is a proper one. You can find it out by searching for reviews about it.

Note: "Review" in this case means "review with measurements (stable electricity, does it deliver the promised power, etc.)", not a review like "0mg it just werks" with five stars as the rating.

I realize that, I'm not retarded. It wasn't my choice of PSU actually, my dad got it from his work and I just figured it'd work. BTW it was my first build lol.

I wasn't considering buying one. Lol. I specified that in my post, you obviously didn't read the whole thing.
