I cant host my own server. while i played teknomw3 and hosted my server there and had no problems at all.

Everyone connected!

I made a copy of call of duty mw3 from steam and placed it in a second folder, updated the game with iw5launcher and then run dsut. i configured server.cfg for set_dedicated 2 and changed the server name.

I uploaded my server.cfg

Actually, I host a server and can't connect to it from list, only from the console.

Almost everyone out there has your same problem, don't worry.

However, try to connect with "connect yourinternalip:yourgameport" (the port you have to put is by default 27015. The ip you have to connect to is the one that you picked to forward your ports -mine is 192.168.1.18 for example-).

Instead, if other people want to join from console, just google what is my ip and click on the first link, that is the ip they have to connect to, same port. If your server is password protected (as for config file it is not), and you want to connect from console, first you have to type "password yourpassword", for example "password potato", then "connect ip:port".

I had those problems too, hope this helps.

im running the following network map: PC > Linksys router (port forwarded to pc) > modem(port forwarded to router) > Internet provider

are you hosting it on your own computer?

use:

connect localhost:

otherwise:

connect :

(Note: the internal ip should look like: 192.168.xx.xx)

The problem is that the Dedicated server guide tells you to put ports in the dedicated servers shortcut... 27015, 27016 and 27017, but in the server.cfg has 27014, 27015 and 27016 so they are not same, so that is the problem and I noticed that about a week ago and it worked for me after I changed them to same ports. After that I saw my server on the IW5 list, and I still have a problem. My server is on the list, but my friend can't join my server he tried to connect to my server via my local IP and public IP and he gets a message "Server connection closed" or something similar even though my server is on the list. I don't know what to do. Help would be appreciated!

The tutorial doesn't have any error. The ports and it's commands that you see on server.cfg are there just for reference and they're supposed to be quoted out (//) there. The game developers left those commands there as a reference so that you know what to put on the shortcut arguments.

Anyway, back to your problem now, either the ports are not forwarded and open on your router, or your friends aren't including the game port on connect command.

connect [ip]:[game port]
