Ugh, well, a friend of mine is trying to connect. He downloaded the old aIW files from ThePirateBay (Which I did too), and he's getting this error. Exactly what file/files are the wrong one's or something, how do we fix this?

U cant play the old aiw because the server is down. Thats why u get the error, it checks for something on startup and if the server is down it wont start.

I know, I know. He put the 4D1 files in there. But we're still getting this problem!

there is no more alteriwnet.....i dont think you can play on the 4d1 servers unless you have an UPDATED steam version

1) Delete AlterIW files (all of them)

2) Download MW2 of steam (which you should OWN on your account) to play on 4D1.

3) Install client files

4) play nicely

It's weird, I can play with the old aIW files, and he can't. Also, he's launching IW4M.exe, so it should work...

From the picture you provided he is not running iw4m.exe, he is running old aiw updator.
