Yeah good thing I looked up about FXs because apperently they suck...

But man, over 4ghz, 8 cores, I was thinking about getting one when I saw they were so cheap.

The FX-8120 and FX-8150 are terrible for gaming, you're better off saving up for a Z77 motherboard and an i5 2500k/3570k.

There's more than just the amount of cores and the speed. The 2500k is a Sandy Bridge (32nm) CPU and the 3570k is an Ivy Bridge (22nm) CPU.

Why would you suggest outdated hardware?

Just go For i5-2500K ... Best Gaming Processor Ever !! AMD processors never good for Gaming .. heat up very quickly . ATI-AMD Graphics are pretty good at their prices ....

AMD sux for gaming, my friend has a amd phenom x2, and the same graphics card as mine, and can barely run mw2, while my Intel Celeron, can run it pretty smooth at 1024x768 res.

My AMD Phenom x4 965 still plays games perfect. You can also get quite cheap.

It's true that there are slight hiccups now and then, but when you consider the price/performance, go FX-8120. The ATI/AMD is a great budget combo.

The i5 2500k/3570k has a better price/performance when it comes down to gaming.

The FX-8120 is only a good CPU if you're running multi-threaded applications that can use 8 cores, which is not the case with gaming since most games can't even use more than 4 cores. And being able to run everything on maximum isn't really impressive, since most games are more bound to GPU performance than CPU performance.

 

And let's not even get started about energy inefficiency, the FX-8150 consumes more than the i7 930 on load.

I would never own a AMD again. Just go intel

Apart from that c2q's are outdated, you would need some 'luck' to get one which runs 4x4Ghz.

Every single CPU is different when it comes to OC...

I for myself run an (old) intel C2Q q6600 at 4x3.7Ghz and believe me, it would light up in fire without watercooling. (it's 4x2.4 Ghz stock)

I had to higher the vcore, which was 1.25V by default to 1.440V to get it to run properly.

Doing so highers the cpu temperatures significantly.
