I have read almost all topics which I could find about this error and tried the solutions but nothing worked for me.

 

The error: Couldn't load image 'preview_mp_compact'. If this name starts with 'preview mp_', you might be missing iw_22.iwd/iw_23.idw. Read the relevant FAQ entry on #/support

 

 

I have tried:

- Putting dlc1_ui_mp.ff and dlc2_ui_mp.ff in IW4M\zone\alter

- Putting dlc1_ui_mp.ff and dlc2_ui_mp.ff in MW2\zone\dlc (I needed to create a dlc map because there was none. All other *.ff files are in MW2\zone\english

- Because there was no mp_compact.ff I put it and some other *.ff files in MW2\zone\english

- Replaced iw_22.idw and iw_23.idw in MW2\main

 

But nothing works. The game keeps crashing after a couple of seconds and give me the same error over and over again.

 

Can somebody please help me?

That fixes the problem. Unless you used some crappy browser to download the files, wich changed the file's extension or something.

Anyway, if you set the extension manually, let me tell you that's ".iwd", not ".idw"

Whoops 2 typo's in 1 sentence. Of course I mean *.iwd and replaced in MW-2\main not in IW4M\main since there is no "main" folder there.

 

I have downloaded the files in Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox but the game keeps crashing and gives the same error.

You're supposed to REPLACE that iw_22 that you already had there...

I have download those new files and replaced them with the old files in MW-2\main of course.

Let's try something...

Install hashcheck -> http://code.kliu.org/hashcheck/

Now go to this topic -> viewtopic.php?f=26&t=8457 (no need to read)

Download the IW4 hash file from that topic.

Extract the hash file to your game folder and double click it to start a hash checking.

Any missing file will show up in yellow, and damaged files will show up on red.

Then we'll know what may be failing there.

dlc files are corrupted Download it or buy it from Steam. (or if missing)

I just downloaded iw_22 and iw_23, to make sure that the uploaded files were intact, and they are.

iw_22 and iw_23 gave me a green hash check.

dlc1_ui_mp.ff also showed up as green, but dlc2_ui_mp.ff showed up as red. Anyway, the right version of dlc2_ui_mp.ff comes with IW4M's updater (to zone\alter folder)

As for the files in yellow, you'll have to get the DLCs from Steam store or google.

 

Now see what you did wrong about iw_22 and iw_23

The uploaded files are intact, so there's no reason for it to mismatch unless you did something wrong with the files.

I will go to Steam for the DLC files.

For some reason you're missing 26kB on iw_22 and 10kB on iw_23...

Try disabling your anti-virus while you download the files. Something is corrupting the download.

if you download this then don't use any Download Manger download From Browser :idea:

Tried that download now 5 times on different browsers and even with anti-virus disabled but still a red hash check.

I have fixed my problem! I have download the .iwd files on a other computer and copied them to my MW-2\main folder and works! I guess something on my computer corrupted the download file (even with anti-virus disabled). Strange... but I'm happy it works now!
