No, it's outdated, go for an i5 2500k/3570k. Keep in mind that these are LGA1155 and not LGA1156.

Keep in mind the price difference, not only for CPU but for MoBo too. Not everyone can afford the newest hardware.

But then again, he didn't state whether he already owns an LGA1156 build and just needs a new CPU or wants to build a new PC. He only asked whether that CPU would be a good CPU and I said it was outdated and that it would be better to go for an i5 2500k/3570k.

I meant that in way that old 1156 MoBos are cheaper.

But then again, you're not involving the energy consumption.

The a system with an i5 750 consumes 184W on load and a system with an i5 2500k 133W according to Anandtech. So let's assume that he puts a similar load onto his CPU 10 hours a day for 365 days. 184 / 1000 * 10 = 1,84kWh per day, which we should multiply by 365 days, so 671.6kWh per year. Let's say 1kWh costs $0.15, so 0.15 * 671.6 = $100.76. He would have to pay $100,76 for his i5 750 build. If you apply the same way of calculating the energy consumption, you would come to the result that the i5 2500k system would consume 485.15kWh a year and thus only cost $72.82.

So he would've gotten (most) of the money back for the motherboard if he would use the i5 2500k build instead of the i5 750 build through a lower energy bill.
