Well, when i get to the server list all the servers have huge ping times but once im in a game it changes drastically, an example is i get in a server with 85 and while ingame my ping is 700+ and when i enter some servers with 300+ ping i get around 90....

Mostly just wondering if this happens to everyone or just me, and maybe if there is a solution cos its annoying having to enter and exit servers to find a good match :(

It's not necessary to redirect any ports or disable any firewall as long as you don't get stuck at "Connecting to online services." as stated in this thread http://fourdeltaone.net/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=9515 #10 and please read the #21 as your "problem" is a known bug.

But I have to say that if your ping is extremely inaccurate as for the displayed ping in server list it might be just your internet connection getting overused by any other user in your house. Or maybe just have a poor internet connection for connecting to overseas hosted servers.

So I advise you to please make sure that while you're getting this "ping problems" you don't have any torrent or downloader application running and that nobody else in your house or network is downloading.

And make sure to connect to servers near you (geographically) as this will give you the best possible connection (totally depends on server hoster quality) and it's a good start to look up for prefered servers.

Look up for available servers and their location at this link:

The outrages ping problem was fixed in IW5M r18

False, a highly restrictive firewall will often do fine with a single ping request to an ip, but once multiple connections are made, will block/filter the connections. Forwarding ports can be an acceptable way to open up your connect-ability and work around a restrictive firewall or NAT.
