Yo Fellas,

 

I have a problem with my clanservers running on an octacore machine.

Others have the same problem: a delay of some milliseconds, but exactly this ruins the gameplay...

What have you tried? - I already wrote new configs and set partymaxplayers to 16.

How many servers are you running? - At the moment there are 15 servers running (12 of my clanservers and 3 rented servers)

Rootserver specs? - It's a ProServer POWER X6 hosted by Server4You (Datacenter Strasbourg)

I don't think that the server has too low specs for running 20 servers and up, at least I hope so. :?

None of the servers has a playerlimit over 16 (except the S&D server)

Mostly abnormal bullet/non-predictable event registration time and from time to time the sprint key issue occurs.

If you've fired a shot, the hit marker appears up to 1 second.

mhm, do the server processes have any weird priority set? I'd normally not assume the scheduler to be messing up when 20 processes use at most 2-3% of a single core (though the AMD CPU you likely have might be messing up scheduling on its incomplete execution units - I don't trust hyperthreading nor AMD's bit-more-core-per-virtual-core variation)

 

also, is the network not bottlenecking?

Just tested one of the severs. (the TDM-Terminal one)

It's was pretty laggy at times. Felt like a fps lag sometimes, which was obviously server-side as my fps were constanly at 125. My ping was also quite decent (30 - 35). Haven't noticed any ping 'jumps'.

Once I've tried running them at realtime but this didn't really help.

No I don't think so, network is running at 100MBit/s, no limit.

 

Update: I updated the server version to rev105 (IW4M:3.0-105 built on Aug 18 2012 10:31:02).

Hope this will help, will give feedback after a little test period.

Servers are running on normal mode.

Also, the more players are playing on a server the more the delay extends.
