OP appears to be wondering whether depression or anxiety is just something an individual can easily ignore/snap out of, which is a legit question imho.

OT: No, I don't think so. If someone is genuinely depressed it will take them some time to recover from that. The emo girls that get "depressed" because their friend posted something slightly offensive on facebook can however just stop that shit because they're mostly attention whoring.

Pretty much that. It really depends on the person. In my case, I find it extremely easy to not get depressed. Rather than fighting to get out of a depression, I really barely never get depressed. And when I do, it just lasts for... what, 30-40 minutes?

However, there are other people with way more serious issues, and they really need professional treatment to change.

Mmm yeah, I agree. The facebook shit is just fucking annoying. But yeah, it does take a while to get out.

I guess so, I mean for you that's good because you know how to change. Unfortunately there are others who do not know, and need help. Anyway about your last statement, wouldn't you agree, 'If you shouldn't be sad because someone has it worse than you, then you shouldn't be happy because someone has got it better than you?'

One of my friends got into a really bad depresion when he entered high school. It got so bad to a point where he started to take drugs, broke up with his girlfriend and he even got kicked out of school cause of drugs. That was all a year and a half aggo and he only now started to get his life back toggether. He is now going back to school again, got a part time job. So no if you get into depresion its not always so easy to snap out of it.

You can't do it by yourself it's very tough to get over. You do need others in your life to help pull you out of this depression.

There are others that have gotten out to depression, so can get out of it. It needs time and work to snap out of it.

Yes we can stop our self being depressed and anxiety. Just following few things. Do whatever you feel like and every time keep your self busy. Being busy it will help you to avoid other things and divert your mind on work. By following this you will not be so much anxious.

depression is over time. and you can't really prevent that unless you do something 24/7, or all the time you're awake.

Yeah massive bump lol. But yeah, over time, and to be happy you kinda have to find it. Just sayin' :) Also Donaldgill, I didn;t say I am, I just wanted to hear opinions of people in this community. Good to know it's not full of immature idiots.

Hi All,

As this threat is related to depression, so thought of sharing few tips to treat depression here.

Talk with your family and friends and share your problems with them. Start workout and engage yourself in any daily physical activity. Accept the things you cannot change, try not to worry and practice giving back. Avoid alcohol, smoking and caffeine and have proper sleep.
