Server connection timed out

Опубликовано:

I keep getting out of some servers after 2/3 min playing... Even the low ping ones... It starts to give me huge lag spikes and send me to weird places of the map and then disconnects...

I've opened the 3074 port on router, disabled win firewall, downloaded the DLC, read everything I could around the forum to fix this issue and still when I try to connect in a server with the lowest posible ping the server times out...

I've downloaded and installed everything today so I'm pretty sure my files are updated. :) Can anyone help me on this plz?

I'm only able to play in 1 server for now... :(

Well... I forwarded a port on router and windows firewall is disabled... Because I've opened a port specifically to MW3 there's no point in shutting down router's firewall... Besides... I can't compromise the security of my computer by shutting down all firewalls and leave the computer totally open...

But I took a leap of faith and tested with both firewalls off and I still get the same problem... Most servers I play 2/3 min, fire a couple of shots and then my character gets berserk around the map and the server times out...

I can't add servers to my favourites so I have to write down on a post-it the very few servers I can play... So far it's only 2... :S

The WZ servers have a very good ping for me but I can't play in either one of them...

Any ideas?!

P.S: Router is a Thomson btw

As I predicted...

It's a Thomson TG series

That firewall will never get disabled, even if you "disable" it on the router's interface.

My ISP also provided me with one of those craps. I had to replace that piece of garbage to be able to play. A LOT more people here in Portugal are having that (and similar) problem because of that router.

Just get rid of it asap... (that's what i did)

Hmmm... That kinda sucks... lol

And the problem is that my internet provider only has 2 Thomson routers avaiable... And both TG series... I got the better one because of the package I bought... So that means that who ever has MEO provider in portugal is a bit screwed?!

I would replace it but according to their website I'll only get thomson anyways...

(and yes i'm portuguese also ;) )

I've been through what your dealing with.

I've had both Thomson router models here, and both the same crap.

You'll just have to buy a router yourself (one that has a WAN port, because you'll have to keep that crap for IP-TV)

Ahhh... I see... :)

Looks like a very long and technical walk to get this running... Oh well... I'll see what I can do later... for now I'll enjoy what I can from it as it is...

Thx for the help! ;)

i have the same thomson series but i can play normaly, u just have to open port 3074, do this:

go to control panel -> network and internet -> network devices -> right click on ur router -> properties -> settings(wait some time)-> add->

give a name to the rule (ex: iw5m), type ur ip (go to cmd and type ipconfig for ur ip), then choose UDP and write 3074 on the two textboxes then ok -> ok

and thats it.

Kill confirmed.

It wasn't working for some firmware versions, but today I tried it again and it's working.

Still, that's a workaround that will only allow 1 computer on the network to play the game (since the port has to be forwarded to a specific IP address). But if that's the only computer that's gonna play on that network, then it will do the work without requiring the purchase of a new router (atleast not because of the port forwarding issue).

Taking the risk of being called dumb, that "control panel" that you mention is in windows or router?!

Because on my router I dont have anything with that definition... Only a "Toolbox" and then a "Gaming & Application Sharing" where the ports are forwarded...

Anyways I had the 3074 port opened for UDP and TCP before that... Opened only for UDP but the problem persists...

Here a screenshot of my router's software and port forwarding... I'm starting to think I've done something wrong or that I had a really bad luck with my router... lol

windows control panel....:o

and delete the rule that u implemented on ur router, to ensure that is no port conflict

First of all thank you to Paulofonta and SH!FTY|PT| for your help! It did worked indeed! ;)

However the XP users (like me) wont be able to make it this way. So the best way to go around this is to connect a Windows 7 computer to your network and access the router as mentioned above...

As long as you type the ip for the XP computer that you want it'll work.

Problem solved! :)

Thank you very much! :D
