so i just got a new pc for christmas, and after i got everything set up i plugged in my Headset(usb and audio out) and my friends said that they are hearing some.....static or dial-up sound coming from my mic. i looked around a bit and people were saying the audio out is picking up noise inside my computer and said it was because of the onboard sound. i have tried looking up drivers, i have the most recent...and i really dont want to get a sound card....

so does any one got any ideas on how i could fix this?

Try plugging your audio out into the actual back of your PC.

That's likely your problem, as the ones in the front cause that sometime (my friend has the same problem -- he had to get an "extender" so he could plug his audio out into the back of his PC).

actually, the back is worse....it makes the noise a lot louder....

So what would i want to look for in a sound card?

Then it's probably grounded. Does the noise disappear if you touch the case and something else like a wall?

no, but if its audio cable is unplugged and i touch the metal part with my hand, i hear the sound....but i have to listen very hard

it also sounds as if it changes tones when my fan speeds up and slows down
