Hi,

since 2/3 hours ago i can't join any server. The game stuck at awaiting connection and then pop up "server connection timed out". What i must do? Thank for your help.

I've got the same thing. It just stays on that screen until I do a ctl+alt+del and start the task manager. At that point I can see the console close down. When I look at the processes I see iw4m.dat*32 still running and the memory usage is growing slowly, but I can kill the task.

HazardX":1xm6kqwk]This is a problem on r118. Re-launch your game should fix your problem or re-update your IW4M Client

I tried to re-launch my game and to re-update the client but nothing changed. I also tried with arev but got the same problem.

EDIT: now also said that server are full when they are not or that i must redownload the client (already done, about 5 times).

HazardX":3m9po0hq]If you use the Client Updater, go to C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\IW4M and delete caches.xml. Launch the game using LaunchIW4M.exe

BTW, If you have iw_25, iw_29 and iw_31 in your main folder; delete it.

No, still doesn't working..and i have not iw_25 _29 _31

I went to the trouble of completely uninstalling iw4m and modern warfare 2 and then reinstalled. Still get the same behavior. Just stuck at awaiting connection and a slowly growing process that I need to kill in the task manager after I exit.

Any other ideas?

I was able to get things go for me. There is a process 'firesvc.exe' running that is part of McAfee. Once I killed this process (and renamed the exe file itself to something other than firesvc.exe) then things started working again. I'm not sure exactly what this executable does, but I've seen other posts on the web that it's caused problems with multiplayer sort of games (like StarCraft).

Anyway, killing the process worked for me. The reason I renamed it was because it automatically restarts after about 15 minutes. By renaming the file, it won't restart because it cannot find it.

Delete m2demo folder, players folder, caches.xml and then start LaunchIW4M.exe and let it download fresh files.

If you still stuck at awating connection. I suggest you try another server or re-install IW4

Want to know my opinion on McAfee? Get rid of it...I suggest something like MSE or avast..
