Hi,

I have two scenarios. The first one is a simple lan environment, dedicated server and mw3 client both in my lan with the steam authorization problem after client connection. Because my goal is to run the server in LAN i have not forwarded any ports on the firewall router (but I think this is not the problem, it's a lan dedicated server so it could be visible only in my lan and I have no need to publish it worldwide). The second scenario is a dedicated server for LAN gaming behind a restrictive http proxy: in this case i use a VPN throught the proxy to route all iw5m traffic (hosts 176.9.46.228 - 209.170.124.113 - 209.170.124.114 as I saw).

In the first scenario there is not proxy, traffic is simply natted. My preliminary interest is the second scenario, if I had to route other hosts please tell me.

Thanks

First scenario is know bug, people can use external ip only to join at the moment.

Do you think that this could be fixed? Is it a recent problem or there has always been?

About the second scenario - are you sure both TCP and UDP protocols are going throught the proxy ?

I'm quite sure, I set static routes to hosts I posted above. I used Wireshark to find hosts, so I don't know if I have forgotten something, if so can you tell me which other ip I have to route?

For the second scenario, yesterday I made a test session in which the server was in lan with restrictive proxy and vpn routed traffic, and the client in my home (with internet connection), connected to the server with a second vpn, used simply to establish client server connection, so in this case public ip of server and client are different. Anyway generally clients and server are in the same LAN, with the same public ip for iw5m services, so if this is an issue for the first scenario, it's also for the second one.

I hope in a fix, now I'm using the old and quite stable TeknoMW3 for lan gaming, I would migrate to iw5m but I need more stability.

Is not possible to enable log, in order to have more precise information about the problem?

Im not exactly following here. If lmaobox can explain to us what we CAN do. It would be great. I think the reason for the need of proxy for me is that recently, my network provider transfered its first ip address digit from 31 to 151. After that, i couldnt connect without proxy. Dont know why but also it seems im able to connect without proxy before 12 am.

It it fixed in IW4M, I am not sure about the plans for IW5M, but NTAuthority told me that 192.168.0.0 lan ips are whitelisted and should work without any problems.

It would be great if we can set this whitelist with a config file. My personal lan (first scenario) is 172.20.0.X, the lan with vpn (second scenario) is 10.100.X.Y and i cannot modify them, obviously.

Thanks

Otherwise it would be sufficient to extend the whitelist to all private network ip class A, B and C...

I put the server on virtual machine, configuring nat for 192.168.0.x (only the server, client remains on 172.20.0.x): i can confirm, in this way I have no issue. But obviously this is not a solution nor it could be considered a good workaround... so I hope in a fix soon...

I would also report that during test mw3 client crashed twice: no error message nor event tracked in application log, simply mw3 exit. Is there a log that I can find?

Thanks

I don't think it's fixed. I can confirm that with 192.168.0.x addresses I have no issue. But this cannot be considered the real solution. I don't know who decide the addresses whitelist, if it's 4D1 related I hope that whitelist can be extended to all private class addresses (A, B and C, and not only C)
