So soon I will buy a new guitar. I want an electric guitar. I can buy one at any price between 100 and 500$ My question is what is required for an electric guitar to get a sound out? Like are there cables or special machines used to get a sound out? I am new to buying electric guitars. I have been simply using acoustics for the past few years. Any help would be appreciated.

You need instrument cable (link) and amplifier(link)

You really can't get a good guitar with 500$.

I think it depends on the player, but sometimes a slightly cheaper guitar might be ok for some. When I first started, it suited me well since I had never played any instrument before. Then again if you have been playing for a few years and are fairly competent, then Ongelma might right, sometimes a nice quality guitar is worth the extra savings just for a nicer playing experience.

I would go for the Epiphone Les paul, it's a good starters guitar and has a warm sound.

Things you need (and what I recommend)

>Guitar

>Boss ME 25 Multiple effects - €179,00/$239.82

>2 Jack cables (standart size) costs a few bucks

>Vox VT 20 Amplifier - €149,00/$199.63

>A few picks (cheap as shit)

>Tuner - 10 bucks

Well I do recommend to buy an (multiple) effect pedal like the "Boss ME 25 Multiple effects" otherwise you will have to play clean sound all the time and that's not the purpose of an electrical guitar IMO...so if you have an effect pedal then you would need 2 cables yes.

Also, I do recommend for you to create something like this but it's waayy more expensive but better then a multiple effects pedal:
