Today I installed 4D1 on my Pc, played a few games, had a good ping (about 60-100) and I was happy I downloaded it.

But now, only a few hours after I took a break from playing, I get ALWAYS a 999 ping in any servers I go to. They are European servers. When I take a look at the servers from the serverbrowser, they tell me I had a ~100 ping, but as soon as I connect, my ping raises up to 999.

And i don't think it's my Pc's fault, I have a gtx 460, a phenom II 1100T, 8 gigs of ram and a 1t hard drive with win 7 64 bit. I should get enough fps.

Uninstall the game. Download the Original COD MW2 and install it, then you can download this file: iw4m/InstallIW4M.exe; it will do the rest. Then go to Start buton and open "Play IW4M (Modern Warfare 2). When you finish these steps the game should work without problems... Otherwise if you still having problems just download the Repository Files: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/65918842/.IWD%20REPOSITORY.html ; and then replace them...

Wrong topic. And people could learn that uninstalling(reinstalling) is not the right fucking answer to every problem.

Check your firewall, close other applications which need internet connection or which may interrupt it etc. Your ping is not harddrive(I mean gpu and cpu) related.

sorry for wrong topic, I don't know where else tp post it, but other games like Bf3 or cs:go have no connection issues, although I didn't closed anything before playing. It's just with mw2 on four delta one servers....

It seems i gave you a bad answer according to the other user.

Anyway, if placing IW4M in the exceptions list of your firewall didn't work try to solve the problem with the instructions i gave you. Your ping seems to be good enough to be afected by anything else than your Firewall.

No, my Firewall wasn't blocking mw2 and iw4m.exe ( I assume it's four delta one ). I think it might had to do with a server. I think this problem started when I joined a server from 4xp...but I am not sure. Anyway, I am redownloading now and I hope this fixes it.

And for everyone who wants to know why:

I got that high ping problem again. I joined a server named Xp4 (they have more than one server), and after that, every other server I joined I got a high ping again, and now I have to download mw2 again -.-' and reinstall 4D1.

I think the method of solving the problem is not by reinstalling the game... Because its always occuring again.. And I am also having this problem, does anyone have a solution yet ?

I found the sulotion

 

these servers changes something in our config file. So here's what to do:

Open your Call of Duty Modern Warefare 2 folder usually something like:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Call of duty Modern Warefare 2\ or...

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of duty Modern Warefare 2

 

now open a folder called "players" in the gamefolder

 

in there there's probably a few files. So what to do is simply to delete the files called:

 

config_m2.cfg

config_mp

config.cfg

 

(always make copys when editing gamefiles)

 

now the games settings are reset, but you keep the level and custom classes ect.
