Due to the lack of regular 6v6, normal rule games I've decided I should try to host my own server.

PC Specs:

Intel Core i5 760

8 GB RAM

GTX 560 Ti

My internet: http://www.speedtest.net/result/1914099583.png

So I record all my games with dxtory and it hurts my FPS a little. My CPU usage is generally maxed when playing and recording.

Does hosting a server use a lot of your CPU? I also have a laptop with an i5-2410m, 6 GB RAM, and a GT 540m. Would I be able to use this to host a server instead?

Can I even host a server on the same PC I'm playing on?

I only have 1 copy of MW2, but it's installed on both my PC and my laptop. I heard 4d1 doesn't verify the legitimacy of your game, so I would be able to host on my laptop and play on my desktop?

I suggest hosting a server on another pc that way it doesnt effect your gameplay. It shouldn't use much CPU. I already hosting one server along with cod4 and MW3 at the same time on a single core AMD Sempron 2.20Ghz with 2GB.

I use to host a server on my dads quad core but I notice he was losing fps a little too.

How do I go about hosting a server?

Here's some things I want to do:

- 7v7 games

- Domination, score limit 150

- Only specific maps

- No noob tubes, danger close, commando, death streaks, akimbos, AA-12, RPG, AT4

- Is there an auto detect for hackers?

Probably some other things, but that's all I can think of now.

There's a dedicated server tutorial on the forum. Also, it's a terrible idea to play and serve on the same computer. The IW4M dedi takes up a surprising amount of resources.

- Easy (+set party_maxplayers 14)

- Easy (scr_dom_scorelimit 150)

- Easy (map rotation)

- Easy (anti-noob)

- B3 (hard)

Well I do get ~200 FPS right now, but I'd like to maintain a nice 120.

So pretty much I should set up the server on my laptop. Does anti noob include all of the stuff I mentioned?

What exactly does anti noob do?

yes!

Its a mod to keep noobs for using the stuff you mention.

So I was looking at the guide and I'm confused about a few parts.

I downloaded the tool and put it in the mw2 folder in steam.

I made the server.cfg, which doesn't mention anti noob anywhere. How do I add that?

The next part has me stuck,

"Create a shortcut of 1w4m.exe and add the parameters:

+set party_maxplayers 18 +set net_port 28961 +exec server.cfg +map mp_rust +map_rotate -dedicated

You can also add -console if you don't like the cmd windows and would prefer to use the 'old' server boxes

Port forward any port you put in "+set net_port "

28960 is the default (but we'll use 28961 just to be sure)"

I know how to port forward, but I don't understand what it means when it says to create a shortcut. I don't see that file, and how do you add parameters to a shortcut?

This is a good site to help you understand port forwarding. think of it as a firewall to your router that connects all your pcs to the internet. if the port is block. no nobody cant get in your dedicated server..So visit this site and put in your router model etc..

http://portforward.com/

as for create a shortcut. just right click on iw4m.exe and create shortcut. then you right click that shortcut and hit properties. on the end of the target line put +set party_maxplayers 18 +set net_port 28961 +exec server.cfg +map mp_rust +map_rotate -dedicated

Heres what mine looks

If you need anymore help I can probably walk you thru with teamviewer?
