I have created some custom menu looks (colors) and backgrounds on the old aiw, For some reason they do not work on 4d1. I have read another topic here saying you have to edit the menu_sp_image and place it in the m2demo folder but when I do this I get a error when started the game.

I have fixed the crc and hex edited my file but everytime its the same error when trying to read the image.

Is there any way I can fix this?

Edit when I save the dds I use 8.8.8.8 no mip maps every time I save it with 8.8.8 it lowers the file size to 647 KB instead of 3,601 KB. Same with dxt1.

It should be as easy as;

1) Get your picture into a dds file.

2) Convert it to a .iwi file and rename it to the proper name.

3) Make a z_background.iwd in your m2demo folder with a folder inside of the archive named images, and inside of that folder the file you have made.

Thanks I'll give that a shot.

Could not load image 'menu_sp_image'. If this image name starts with 'preview_mp_', you might be missing iw_22.iwd/iw_23.iwd. Read the relevant FAQ entry on #/support :)

Same error. I know it has something to do with the file size, If I remember correctly it has to maintain the original size. The problem is I cant get it to do that, Everything I try makes it shrink too low and if I save using 8.8.8.8 I get the correct file size but it wont convert iwi.

Wait, no. Did you replace the original file before you did what I told you? If not, your previous screw up screwed this one up. To get a clean iwd, go to the iwd repository. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3776

Yap, modifying stock IWDs is really a bad idea. It will prevent you from entering "sv_pure" servers.

Always put modifications on an extra IWD.

I havent replaced the original file, but the method didyouknowipwn doesn't work also. I know its because of the file size it wont maintain it and when it does it wont convert.

heres the iwi you wanted . But you see what I mean by it wouldn't convert. Idk why it started doing that.

Yo, that new converter did the trick though. I just took it out of the iwd and placed it into the images folder and it worked. Thnks for the help.
