I have this problem that whenever I change something in the display settings and save the changes, the game crashes. It says IW4M.exe (Or something like that) has stopped working.

 

P.S. I have yet to join a server but it definitely found servers when I went to look.

Well, you can try something...

After launching the game, when you get to the main menu, try pressing "alt"+"enter"

It will probably go all black and take a couple of seconds to adjust, but it will put you the game in windowed mode. Then try to save the settings while on windowed mode and it probably won't crash.

You can then try to go back to fullscreen by pressing "alt"+"enter" again.

Or you could edit your config_m2.cfg, in your /players/ folder in your MW2 folder.

 

Search for the value

r_fullscreen 1

 

Change that to 0. You can also change any other display settings such as resolution inside config_m2.cfg, just search for the value.
