I came to this forum, and beeing a linux guru I noticed

/dev/urandom

and it is advertised as

Random spam and gibberish

It really should be

Pseudorandom spam and gibberish
(because /dev/urandom is based on /dev/random and uses its entropy to generate entropy into /dev/urandom so it is inherit in /dev/random, and that garbage in that board, I don't think that it is totally random data)

Its /dev/urandom because its unblocking and not AS random as /dev/random but still random because it uses entropy to calculate the randomness. Technically everything is psuedorandom because true randomnesss can't be achieved except through detecting neutron decay or some complicated shit.

well, he's right.

Linux uses many things to generate (partially)random data because computers SUCK at generating random data...(too complicated for them, and really, humans can't generate random data as well)

/dev/urandom is non-blocking because it reuses it's entropy

I actually googled /dev/urandom as I had no idea what it meant, but after reading what i found and what you've said i think i understand. Iv always wondered wtf it meant.

Yes true randomenss doesn't ever hit the floor after my doctor operates the frog while it drives tobasco sauce is made of Russians drinking Vodka.

I think that it really needs to be repaired(Random spam and gibberish) because like because

For the purposes of forum posts, true randomness is not required nor desired.

So it must be pseudorandom... and forum posts are terrible true random data

there are other interesting interesting files in linux

best of linux commands might be

cat /dev/urandom > /dev/null
