Is there a mod to add bots to our dedicated server for online play. It would be nice if their would be a mod that would add bots online if the player count drops below a certain point. As players would join the bots would leave and vise verso. I tried that smart retarded enemies mod (RSE) but its only for private matches that I can see.

Thanks for the quick reply. Does the RSE mod work the latest 4d1? I haven't been able to get it to work on my dedicated server. In what directory did you put the iwd file?

 

The only other mod I use is the map voting mod.

Try this:

 

Download the RSE.iwd from that post: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=2716#p26166

Rename it to z_svr_RSE.iwd and put it into your m2demo folder in your server.

Follow these extraction from the author and startup/restart your server:

 

7. HOW TO ADD BOTS : (Dedicated Servers,You can add bots only by being the host.)

Open RSE.iwd with WinRAR and browse the folders for the file _rank.gsc open it in notepad and scroll down till you see these entries (*replace # with the number or name you want to set it to.)

*svr_bots # (sets the amount of bots to join)

*svr_bots_fill # (set this to how many players you want to have in the game, eg. if you set it to 10 and 5 players are in the game , then 5 bots will be added. If a player then leaves another bot will be added)

*svr_bots_skill # (sets the bots difficulty. 1 = easy; 2 = medium (default); 3 = hard;

* svr_bots_team # (sets the team that the next bots will join. can be autoassign, axis, allies )

* svr_bots_streak # (sets if bots use killstreaks. 0 = no, 1 = yes)

* svr_bots_nuke # (if killstreaks are on you can set if they can get/use nuke. 0 = no nuke, 1 = they can get nuke(17 kills))

* svr_bots_wep_menu # (This gives the players a weapons menu they can use once every time they respawn, 0 = off(default), 1 = on)

change these entries to your liking and have fun.

 

I think the best idea is just to use svr_bots_fill for dedicated servers instead of svr_bots.

Just out of curiousity what does the "z_srv" do?

 

It makes the mod server-side only.

That means players do not have to download it, when joining a server, the mod however is still fully functional. That works much better in my opinion and also avoids errors, when you did not set up an http server correctly.

I got it working thanks. The only thing is I have text to the bottom right that says "press UNBOUND KEY for menu" How do I bind the button? I'd like to change the bot names if that's possible.

 

You need to apply a key for center view in the controls to get that unbound removed.

 

For the bot names changing is impossible, since the mod relies on the names to detect the bots and to let them move, shoot, etc...

Well this mod conflicts with my map voting mod. It prevents me from voting and also the map hangs at the end of the 1st round. So I guess its either this mod or the voting mod. :(

I use the 1.03 hotfix iwd in the file posted in this thread. The 2.0 doesn't work for me if you try it and get it to work let me know if not the 1.03hotfix is still very good.

ok I went home for lunch and tested it out real quick. It doesn't hang anymore but the voting screen do not show although if I press a number for a map as I usually do the map does change to it so I think the voting aspect works but seems to be a video overlap problem or something that I can't see the voting screens.

 

Also I bound the P key on the keyboard for the weapons menu but it does nothing when I press the key.

Okay I will check that out later.

For the weapons menu, quote from the RSE topic:

svr_bots_wep_menu # (This gives the players a weapons menu they can use once every time they respawn, 0 = off(default), 1 = on)

 

You probably need to enable that.
