If my computer specs are better than PS2 (For example), why the emulator is still a bit slow?

I just gave PS2 emulator as an example, but I will try somethings I have discovered.

To my knowledge, emulators that run PS2 and Xbox games are horribly optimized, as the games are made for a defined architecture, not for PC's.

The machine runs its operating system, while using software to (badly) create and translate the environment of another machine, and then there's the actual game on top of that.

Which... demands very powerful hardware. If you want to run... say, a PS3 game, you'll need some very powerful hardware. You'll probably need a hex-core CPU.

If the hardware is completely unrelated the power needed is estimated to be 10 times higher than on the original hardware.

 

IIRC some things are easier, like emulating GBA on certain smartphones because they're both running on an ARM7.

Because it has to emulate the instruction set which your CPU doesn't support.

well my pc has a i5 3570k, gtx 680, 8gb ram and i get like low fps on the ps2 emulator
