So I just bought a new SATA3 2TB HDD, upgrading to it from a 256gb SATA harddrive.

 

Here's the thing, I want to move my Windows 7 from my older harddrive to the new one, and I would like to know some methods, my friend said to move all my things from my older harddrive to an external, format them both and then install windows on the new one. I would like to know is it possible for me to just install windows 7 to my newer harddrive, and then just uninstalling from my older one. I would also like to keep all my thingies that are on my older harddrive. Please help, I would really appreciate it.

Yes, I do have a Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate version, that I got from some Pirates down at the bay, that is how I got my OS to my older HDD ^^

Just remove the Windows/Program Files folder from the old drive.

Why not format/install on the new one, then copy the stuff across from your old one when you need it?

Lawl, I only got sata drives in 2007... (Mainly because I scrounged computers/parts of the hard rubbish..)
