I'm having problems with setting up a dedicated server. I'm stuck at step 5. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2151

I rename it but nothing happens.

You don't rename the file. You change the extension.

Either that or you can create a batch like this on your server's folder:

@echo off
%installdir%iw4m.dat -dedicated +set party_maxplayers 18 +set net_port 28961 +exec server.cfg +map mp_rust +map_rotate

You can put whatever you want on the arguments and use that batch to launch the dedi.

1- Go no Notepad

 

2-

@echo off

%installdir%iw4m.dat -dedicated +set party_maxplayers 18 +set net_port 28961 +exec server.cfg +map mp_rust +map_rotate

Copy this and put it in the you Notepad

 

3- Once you've pasted, Save the text, On the bottom there will be something called "Save Type As:"

Select "All Files" from the drop-down box.

 

4-Now in your file name put it in this format [desiredname].bat

eg-iw4mtest.bat

 

5- Most importantly make sure the .bat file goes into your IW4M folder, run it and it should run fine

Now i got a new problem. I can't run it because it says that it's missing mss32.dll. Last time I modified something on my COD 4 and it said the same thing downloaded it and problems kept rising. More missing dll's.

I have a feeling that OP doesn't have the game files on that folder...
