Oh the cross-hair is missing?

 

Well edit your "config_m2" with WordPad and find the following strings

 

seta ui_drawCrosshair and make sure its set to "1"

 

Also: if it keeps on changing you could always make it "Read Only" (Im not sure what effects/issues it could cause)
