Add matchmaking? No, because it's illegal.

Do you want 4D1 to be shut down? No? then Matchmaking won't be introduced.

Even if somehow matchmaking became a thing, not many people would use it so you'd spend a buttload of time waiting in the lobby for enough players to start a match. Then you'd have laggy-ass listen-hosts, so that would suck. And you'd have people finding ways to bypass aCI, so you'd have more cheaters and weird hacked lobbies.

 

It would turn into the Steam version. And therefore shitty.

Have you played on the Steam version?

 

People give themselves the ability to fly, give everyone in the lobby negative XP (so they can never rank up again), and lock the game so no one can leave without killing the process in Task Manager. It's like the Wild West, but less cool.

 

And unless there's a community of people in the same region who want to play the same game type, pings are generally a lot higher in matchmaking than they would be on a dedicated server in a central location. I've never seen a ping lower than 80ms on a matchmaking lobby, but I get all kinds of dedicated servers in all kinds of games with pings under 50ms.
