Issue with game recording

Опубликовано:

I've recorded some BF3 gameplay, using Dxtory and tweaking it in a way to lower the occupied space and maintain a good quality.

The issue is, when playing the recorded video in Media Player: good quality, no freeze or shuttering.

Once I import the video to Sony Vegas to edit it, in some part the video goes with bad quality.

Some image to show what I mean:

I don't have the same issue with Fifa 12 tho.

Anyone can help me out ? I'm kinda confused ...

Use a different video editing application.

Indeed, its a good idea and Vegas its not the only software out there. But before giving up and moving to Adobe or another, I want to try to solve that quality issue.

Its just like formatting a PC just because it went a bit slow on the OS booting ...

Do you have the K-Lite Codec Pack?

If you do, I want you to run the "Codec Tweak Tool", click on "Fixes" (should be on top below "General:")

Make sure everything is checked and click Apply & Close.

Not sure if this would help in this situation, but I have done this before and it fixed many of my codec issues.

I'm using CCCP and its not a playback issue. As I said, the video runs fine on Media Player.

I just tried Adobe Premiere: same shit =/

Try using ffdshow.

Its hard to find a good balance between quality and space, also, most of the generic codecs makes the game lag due to the heavy capture.

how would ffdshow be relevant to recording?

also, best method -> don't use any mainline compression during recording, get a few big and fast HDDs and record on there

Vegas Preview is always show crap quality. Try rendering your video first. If it's still there then it's the codecs.

At first I though the same; but the converted video was also "pixelated". The problem only apply on BF3. I use the same capture settings for others games, such as Fifa. And none of them have the same issue.

You know that a single round and map of BF3 can last up to one hour right ? And once we start playing, its not a single map we play.

An uncompressed captured RAW takes up an enormous amount of space until you encode it. Atm I'm using an external HDD. Can't afford a SSD, even if I could; I don't think that a 60GB should be enough...

I'll keep looking around for a solution ...

Never said it'd be uncompressed, proper recording tools have slightly-compressed codecs.

An SSD still wouldn't have enough space, note my statement of 'big HDDs'. External drives are even worse, however.

Here a vid showing the problem:

The lagging video is due to fraps capturing my explorer.

Why couldn't you just upload the video instead of recording a game record?

I know I'm not helping.

Switch to Premiere Pro. Otherwise, I have no idea of why that's happening. I have the same issue with PlayClaw videos, so I just trashed Vegas and switched to something that eventually works properly (oh, and with the awesome integration it has with After Effects it has been a worthy switch).

You have allready tried re-rendering it in another program? The basic stuff, you know?

You're talking about fraps right ? Well dxtory does the same thing, but you can "add" "customs" codecs to lower space occupied and FPS drop while playing.

Recording with fraps or with fraps's setting inside dxtory? Sure, but I'll need to lower the graphics settings and maybe the screen resolution. So whats the meaning in recording a 720 or 1080p gameplay max or in ultra graphic settings with fraps if I'll most of the time having shuttering and lag ?

Nvm, just read the quotes below.

jB3_1r3xQCI

This was recorded and converted with Dxtory using a x264 HD codec :3

It's recorded at 1600x900 but it's converted into 1080p :D

Broplem?

You said converted, so basically; you ain't touched the RAW and uploaded it that way ? My problem is focused in IMPORTING the RAW to Sony Vegas.

I also tried PP, I had the same pixelated issue on the preview window.

Its indeed a codec problem. But how to solve this, its what I want ...

There is no one that actually had the same issue who can help me out ?
